I build software development teams that deliver software at scale. With more than two decades of software development and delivery experience delivering solutions, both small and large, I have encouraged team members to themselves become leaders and software architects. I build teams to be cross-functional and exploratory, choosing the delivery language, platform, and model as appropriate to the problems being solved. I continue to build software directly, working "only slightly removed from pure thought-stuff…, creating by exertion of the imagination" as Fred Brooks Jr said. I have been responsible for the design and implementation of systems small and large, from multi-service API backends at scale for retail mobile applications to small utilities that make building software easier. I have built billing and discounting systems, systems integrations, and maintain several Ruby libraries that are widely used. I have personally shipped software for other people written in more than twenty programming languages on about half as many platforms.
